Attaching Prosthetics

Materials

- silicone adhesives
- Q-tips
- Small cups
- Adhesive remover
- IPA
- Powder + applicators
- Makeup brushes
- Pros-Aide
- Pros-Aide remover

1) Before applying adhesives, position the piece and check it for a proper fit. Ordinarily, any flashing is left on until the application. However if the piece needs to be trimmed, do it very carefully. Trimming is often best achieved by hand tearing the flashing away, keeping the blending edges thin and irregular. It's easier to disguise an uneven line than it is a straight line.

2) After the trimming is completed, replace the appliance and check again for fit.

3) With the piece in its correct position, powder along the edges with a face powder that is either lighter or darker than the natural skin colour. This will show the area where the adhesive needs to go.

4) If using pros-aide to apply the prosthetics, brush on a thin layer (less is more) and allow it to dry.

5) Carefully place the appliance into position, pressing gently. If you need to reposition the piece, brush lightly with alcohol, carefully lift the piece, let the alcohol dry then press back into place.
