I started off my re-fronted wig by taking a head measurement of my model. I wrapped cling film around my models head then covered that in sellotape. I then drew around Kizzy's hairline in red marker (lower line). Once I had the template home and put it on the block I drew in the new hairline following the hairline from the portrait of Anne Boleyn.
The most noticeable thing about the hairline is it's very distinctive square shape. Therefore I only took the middle of the hairline back by half an inch but I carried the line across completely straight so that at the two sides it is just over an inch further back from Kizzy's natural hairline. At the temples I then turned the line at a right angle to create the square shape. After that the line then blends back into the natural hairline so the change is only across the forhead not around the ears etc.

I bought two wigs from ebay in a dark reddish/brown colour. I put one wig on the block and seperated into a middle parting. I then pinned the wig into place where I wanted it on the blocck to see how much knotting I needed to do. After I had the wig ready (I didn't need to sew in any darts because of the small amount of knotting I was doing) I sewed the wig to the new lace piece so that I was ready to knot.
I began by bulk knotting the wig where the cheap wig met the new lace. I knotted it the hairs in the left and right direction either side of the parting so that they lay across-wards as they do in the portrait.
Next I began single knotting and to start I knotted in the shape of the middle parting leaving quite a large gap like there is in the portrait. After this I single knotted the rest of the re-front all the way down to the ears following my drawn in hairline.
This was my finished wig as it was setting before my formative assessment. After I had finished knotting I cut the lace so I had about a centimeter to glue down (in HD films they would only leave about 5mm but as this was the first time I had glued on a wig and although the image will be high quality it will be taken from further away I'm leaving a little more) Overall I was very happy with wig as I think I captured the shape well and the thickness blends in with the original wig and looks natural. A problem I found was as the hair is synthetic is got extremely tangled and difficult to work with. To set it for my formative assessment I used hairspray and smoothed the hair into it's square shape then pinned it in place until the assessment.
